A book about the history, heritage and the present day challenges facing the production of traditional woven blankets from Baixo Alentejo (the lower Alentejo region of Portugal), spanning four decades of research and investigative work. Includes color and b/w photos and illustrations throughout. 

This book includes a facsimile of the original 1984 publication Mantas Tradicionais do Baixo Alentejo by Cláudio Torres, Ângela Luzia e Isabel Magalhães, which presents the thorough research carried out in the 1980s, as well as an investigation by Carlos Manuel Cândido Pedro titled "Cardadores, fiadeiras e tecedeiras - A tecelagem de lã do Baixo Alentejo".
